You know how as men we generally enjoy a chat over a pint but never really discuss anything meaningful…which means that we can spend a lot of time talking about not a lot?
Very rarely does the diversity of experience, opinion and thought surrounding the big issues in life see the light of day…which means that we rob ourselves of debate, learning and deeper friendships.
In a relaxed and informal setting, Pub Talk does precisely what it says on the tin…we go to the pub to talk…but not just about incidentals (although that is allowed!) but to chew over some important life issues.
The next Pub Talk event is on Friday 22nd January at 8pm in the bar area of Bob's Barn at Bierton Golf Club and Driving range where the topic up for discussion will be:
LITTLE WHITE LIES
Over recent months we have heard much of integrity or rather the lack of it. In a highly competitive "every man for himself" world is it still possible to function with integrity and is "honesty always the best policy"?
We are delighted that our guest speaker for the evening is David Lidington the longstanding Conservative MP for Aylesbury and current Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Other positions David has held include Shadow Northern Ireland Secretary, PPS to the then Home Secretary, the Rt Hon Michael Howard QC MP, PPS to the then Leader of the Opposition, Rt Hon William Hague MP, Shadow Opposition Spokesman of the Home Office, Shadow Financial Secretary to the Treasury and Shadow Minister for Agriculture. Prior to entering politics David worked for BP and RTZ before working for three years as Special Advisor to Douglas Hurd in the Home Office and Foreign Office.
Again, through a blend of presentation and discussion we are looking to grapple with some the Big Questions. This is an ideal opportunity for us to engage with friends and neighbours so don’t just come along…bring someone too!
