Change Is A Meal For Two

I must admit that I am enjoying the presumably co-incidental and thought-provoking juxtaposition (a word I use slightly less since I took a break from Garden Design) of the start of Lent - beginning our look at 'Fasting & Feasting' - and the fact that it is 'Eating Disorders Awareness Week' - awareness being the operative word. How aware are you - really? Perhaps then, take the opportunity at the next 'First Sunday' (March 7th) to check out one of the 'Eating Disorder Awareness Interviews'.
I am rightly blown away by the friends we have at HT who have been, or still are, on a difficult journey with food. Actually, I'm generally in awe of anyone who is brave enough to identify and make a change, however small, to self. Are you prepared to have your own self-perspective and ideals challenged this week?
No - to be honest - I'm not prepared either. But I'm encouraged by the thought of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10). Before he ate that meal with Jesus, Zac had to fir
st decide whether to let Jesus in at all. We are not alone. Any change we choose to make, however big or small, does not have to be made on our own. Jesus is ready for any invite to share a meal (Rev 3.20), however difficult you may find it to swallow.
Bring some of these thoughts into your Small Group meetings during Lent as you worship, pray through and discuss: real-life food issues that affect us; how we are able to make, or bring about, lifestyle or attitude changes; and how we support the EDC, and friends who have benefitted from its work?
