First Prayers

 Hi,

As the website is not yet open to register new members, and so no-one can post new messages on the forums, I have created this single message so that anyone who wants to add a quick (or a long) prayer can do so by adding a comment at the bottom of this message. As we really ought to have a prayer in a prayer forum message I have chosen A Song of Judith which is sometimes said at Morning Prayer on Trinity Sunday.

You sent forth your Spriit, O God,
and you continue to show mercy to all.

I will sing a new song to my God,
for you are great and glorious, truly strong and invincible.

May your whole creation serve you,
for you spoke and all things came to be.

You sent forth your Spirit and they were formed,
for no one can resist your voice.

Mountains and seas are stirred to their depths;
at your presence rocks shall melt like wax.

But to those who fear you,
you continue to show mercy.

No sacrifice, however fragrant, can please you,
but whoever fears the Lord shall stand in your sight for ever.

Judith 16:13-16

You sent forth your Spriit, O God,
and you continue to show mercy to all.

A prayer

Richard Bragg — Sat, 05/12/2009 - 1:19pm
Can I share a prayer with you.

When I was handed the rock in the intercessions last Sunday, I was given a ‘broken’ one. It looked like it had broken in half, part smooth, part rough. My initial thought was, I wish I could have a nice smooth one! I looked at the rock through the prayers and noticed that where the rock had broken, the inside surface was revealed. It glistened and sparkled.

I prayed that we might be a church like that – a church maybe not smooth and perfect but with enough rough edges to reveal God’s real beauty and value.
