New Building

The original Holy Trinity building was constructed in the mid 1800s to be a focus for Christian worship and service in Aylesbury.  In every generation since then further developments reflected the changing needs of the church family and the local community.

In November 2009 we completed the first phase of the most significant re-building and re-ordering undertaken to date.  This was partly done out of necessity to rectify a number of urgent structural problems but more importantly, we needed to expand and develop to meet the challenges of mission and ministry to a rapidly expanding Aylesbury.

The church family with support from friends in the local community raised over £900,000 through personal giving to fund the works.  The design preserves the sections of the original building which could be restored and replaced the areas which could not, with exciting new spaces including a large gathering foyer and meeting rooms.  The ‘marriage’ of old and new maintains the essential character of the building and provides enlarged and flexible new facilities to serve our vision:

  • Centred on God in worship, prayer & reflection – we've now got more and better spaces for a wide variety of styles of worship.
  • Orientated to the needs of the world – through our new coffee shop located in the foyer and through the events we can now host we are able to reach out and serve many more people in God’s love.
  • Connected to people – the new facilities enable us to gather and enjoy a greater variety of social, educational and community activities.
  • Serious about Christian discipleship –  we are already using the new facilities to help resource people for living out faith in daily lives.

A 3, 4....maybe even 5 for 1 deal!

From the beginning of the project we took the decision to tithe 10% of all donations to support church building projects overseas.  Earlier this year we sent funds to pay for two churches to be built in Pakistan - St Paul'sin the Diocese of Hyderabad and St Stephen's,  We have also made a commitment to help fund the building of a new cathedral church in the Diocese of Kajo-Keji, Sudan.

And Phase 2?!!

We are now going to turn our attention to sorting out our main worship space.  We definitely need some better heating, roof insulation and PA equipment......and we might even try removing a few pillars to create even more flexiblity and space!   Early estimates suggest this could cost up to £500,000.  A daunting prospect but then we thought that about Phase 1 - God is good!

If you would like more information on our building project or would like to support us please contact the church office.
