SMALL GROUPS

Meeting at different times and days to suit different circumstances, Small Groups exist to support one another on life’s journey and build community at the heart of church family life. Small groups are where we find encouragement & friendship, grow as disciples of Jesus through bible study and prayer and serving others. If you are interested in joining a small group please get in touch with Millie Tomson, our Small Group Co-ordinator

Our group provides a non-judgemental environment in which you can be open and honest, where we can study God’s word and what it means for us, with people that have become a second family.
During this period of lockdown our home group has been the conduit that has kept us connected to the church.
It is a safe space to share the joys and difficulties in our lives, through studying the bible, prayer and ongoing support and encouragement for each other.
We encourage each other to grow in faith, support one another in our journey through life and always make time during meet ups to have a laugh. We also have a lively WhatsApp group for prayer requests, encouragement and bad jokes! This keeps us connected with members of the group that cannot make weekly meetings.

The flavour of our group is…female and currently some of us are far flung! At the moment  ‘Zoom’ allows us to gather and be inclusive from Aylesbury to Winslow and all the way to Italy. We ‘meet’ on Tuesday evenings on Zoom but we stay connected through prayerful support, friendship and care throughout the week. Some words we use to describe what our group means to us are: ‘Friendly, Supportive, An Oasis of Calm, Respectful, Gentle, Warm, Encouraging and Accepting’. Prior to Lockdown we also enjoyed volunteering as a group as often as possible at the Aylesbury Foodbank. Through Bible study, discussion, questioning, reflection, chatting and prayer,  we aim to grow in our faith and witness and together support and encourage each other on our journeys of faith.

We meet on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm in the upstairs lounge at church.

Our Life Group is focussed on fellowship and a chance to grow in our faith together, while following some bitesize bible studies, time for worship and personal prayer. We have a heart for Alpha and people exploring the Christian faith. So welcome both newcomers to HT and church folk who have yet to join a midweek group.

We are the SMILE Home Group, meeting on Tuesdays at 8pm. We aim to thrive on our diversity, in age and outlook, a blend of new and older believers supporting each other in our walk with God. Meetings usually have a catch up on news, then a short starter (anything from a worship song, sharing anecdotes or a quiz ). We go deeper by exploring a Bible passage – discussions can be quite frank and honest but there’s a lot of laughter with it. We always pray together at some point. We love to socialise so food and drink are often present! It could be a pub get together, a countryside walk, indoor or outdoor games evening – all opportunities to bring along partners, friends or neighbours.

We are a group of a mixture of ages and backgrounds, meeting on a Wednesday night. We are currently operating a “hybrid” model for meetings, with some members meeting in person, at the home of Jenny & Chris Ion, and others joining remotely on Zoom.

Everyone in our group is at a different stage of their walk with God and this allows for some brilliant discussions and teaching during our study times. Recent studies have included the book of James, Romans, exploring the theme of “Heaven” and joining the Big Church Read, working through Bouncing Forward by Patrick Reagan. Jenny currently leads the majority of our study sessions, but other members are welcome to take a turn too.

Prayer forms a big part of our time together, for each other, the local community and the wider world. We also enjoy social times together which usually involve good food and the odd drink!

We meet on Tuesday evening and in the current circumstances due to Covid we meet via Zoom at 8pm ish for a time of sharing, Bible study/discussion and prayer.

We value having fun whilst encouraging each other in our individual faith journeys and relationship with God through prayer, and in practical ways too. We enjoy being creative in worship and food & drink is almost always a part of every social.

New members always welcome!

TURNBULL-ROSS Group

Our group is a mixture of people some single, some married, some from families with children (from toddlers to adults).  We’re working out how to live and be real as Christians in our everyday lives, with all the muddle and mess that involves.  We recognise that people have different journeys with God and are in different places with that and celebrate and cherish that.  We make space for the doubts and questions and do not have all the answers.  We want to be a safe place for questions and to be inclusive.

We look out and concern ourselves with wider issues outside ourselves and our church – the environment, homelessness, loneliness, mental health, our community.

Many of us have had times where we struggled to square the realities of life with our faith. Some of us are living with our own or family members’ emotional and mental health issues.

By listening to each other, sharing experiences, working through Bible study notes  and praying together we hope to grow closer to one another and closer to God as we walk with Jesus day by day, all the while looking out to those around us realising that God loves all that He has created.

We also have a lot of fun and laughs and somehow manage to veer off topic quite randomly – ridge & furrow field systems anyone?  When we’re able to be together we mix our ‘study’ weeks with social weeks – often involving board games and even the pub!

Revive

REVIVE
BIBLE STUDY GROUP FOR
WOMEN
LED BY RO KNIGHT & JENNY LAFERTON

Every Friday morning (term time only)
10am – 11:30am

Revive is a group for women of all ages where we journey together in our faith, worship and study the Bible together, pray for and support each other. An oasis in the week for relaxation and a time of seeking God amidst the pressures of daily life.
We meet on Friday mornings, upstairs in the HT lounge area. The first half hour is a chance to drink tea/coffee, eat cake and have a natter! At 10:30am we start our time of worship, bible-study and prayer. It doesn’t matter where you are in your journey of faith or how much (or little) you know about the Bible. Revive is a safe place where we can learn together, ask questions and explore possible answers, laugh together, and quite often cry together!

We are currently meeting on Zoom. Please contact the church office if you would like to receive the meeting log in details and join in
